Imphal, Apr 14: To bring quality education in the entire country under national institutional ranking framework (NIRF) Union Minister Human Resource Development (HRD), Prakash Javadekar announced the list of institutes and universities, but Manipur University is found missing in the list.
Announced this during a press meet held at its office located at Congress Bhavan, BT road on April 13, National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) state unit president P Bangkimchandra said the NSUI condemns this.
Speaking to the media he asked what is the reason behind MU being dropped from the list. “Will it be the lack of performance from the side faculty or infrastructure?” Bangkimchandra asked.
NSUI demanded the reason for MU not being in the list even though to bring quality education the MU is supposed to be using the most modern techniques of teachings and equipments.
He appealed the authority of MU to explain this to the people. In north eastern state many students from Assam and Manipur are going at other states of the country for studies. This might be exempted if the institutions and MU dedicates in education for the state. Education minister should consider for the issue at the earliest, Bangkimchandra added.
