Trial Run Of High-Speed Spanish Talgo Train Conducted In India
The Indian Railways has conducted the first trial run of Spanish train Talgo between Bareilly and Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh as part of its strategy to increase the speed of trains. Nine Talgo coaches were hauled by a 4,500 HP diesel engine for a trial run from Bareilly at 8.50 am at a speed ranging between 80-115 km per hour, a senior Railway Ministry official involved with the Talgo train
The trail run was conducted by a joint team of the Railway Design Standards Organisation (RDSO) and Spanish train manufacturer Talgo. The nine-coach Talgo train pull by a 4500 HP diesel engine was tested on the 90-km line as part of the first trial run. The 90-km distance was covered in 1 hour 10 minutes.
The trial run will be conducted in three phases on three routes:
1. First phase : Bareilly-Moradabadone route
2. Second phase : Mathura-Palwal route
3. Third phase : Mumbai-Delhi route
