A huge public drawn from Kanglatombi area yesterday demonstrated a sit-in-protest against the failure of state government to take action or book against two accused persons who are at larges. While, speaking to media persons in the sideline of the sit-in-protest, Member of JAC Precilla Thuimei said that on late evening of April 22 some armed persons has shoot a student while trying to kidnap a hardware store owner from Kanglatombi for 30 lakhs ransom demand by Kuki based UG groups who are under Suspension of Operation. She threatens until the state government takes positive action to accused persons, the JAC will launch series of severe agitation including Bandh and Strike on NH-2.
We don’t want to impose bandh along the Highways but according to the negligence of state government, poor law and order failure and such critical situation has prompted us to block the NH to wake up the government, she said. Defending the deployment of commandos in the areas which contrasted the protest of the Sadar Hills Civil societies in recent weeks, the JAC noted that, In order to bring normalcy in the area, the government has open an Cdo outpost at Kanglatombi IB but certain section of the people has objected and demand to withdraw the outpost from the Sadar hills area which is now shifted to Panchayat Ghar Kanglatombi at present.
